Letter[edit]

դ (t)

  1. A letter of the Armeno-Turkish script, named դա (ta). Represents voiceless dental plosive: [t]. Transliterated as t.

Usage notes[edit]

This letter is mostly used only with Armenian loans, but some authors will use it for Turkish words before a back vowel; i.e., before one of ա (a), ը (ı), օ (o), ու (u), using թ (t) before front vowels. This mirrors the behavior of ط and ت, respectively, in Perso-Arabic.
